Bonjour from Paris!

I got here yesterday and have SO MUCH to tell you!

First of all, I’m about to head out for a day of flea marketing in (I’m pretty sure) the world’s oldest and largest flea market. I’ve been there before, but it was for work and it was kind of stressful and rainy and cold. Today, 10 or so years later, it’s a gorgeous, sunny morning so far and I’m ready and raring to go!

I don’t have any purchases in mind. I just love wandering through the stuff. You’d be amazed at how artistically some of the stalls are displayed. It really is a wonder and so impressive. TONS of inspiration to be had today.

But yes, before I go, just some quick hits:

  • Flight was delayed a couple of hours so I got tipsy (drinking bubbles, making friends, acting crazy) at the wine bar across from the plane’s gate before we took off. That means I…

  • Didn’t get much sleep on the plane, and…

  • Felt like shit when we landed (I’m to blame, I knew that would happen)

  • Made the mistake AGAIN to try to walk with my bags from Gare du Nord train station to the hotel. I always get turned around and this time was no exception. I finally made it to the hotel just fine, but I had to turn around three or four times to get my bearings. It took me over an hour of rolling my damn suitcase through the Parisian streets before I checked in.

  • Dinner last night with Pascal, the guy who’s friends with my college sweetheart. It was a debacle after the last time I came to Paris and met with my ex and his wife found out BECAUSE she saw that I’d friended Pascal on FB and put two and two together. This time, I didn’t tell anyone but Pascal that I was coming and he didn’t tell anyone either! We had a TRUE secret rendezvous!!!

  • Pascal and I got HAMMERED on lambrusco at this amazing Northern Italian restaurant last night. OMG, it was so much fun - we ate platefuls of charcuterie, crystallized parmsan cheese, bowls and bowls of wine (YES, I said bowls) but in the end, after he confessed to be very attracted to me, and after he walked me back to my hotel, he asked if he could come up to my room. I had to say no because I’m just not attracted, but I simply adore the guy. I actually felt terrible about not being attracted to him. I wished so HARD that I could get tingly kissing him, but it just wasn’t happening.

  • We talked about all of the dating apps (he’s been on Tinder and some of the other websites), and he has such amazing thoughts about the whole system. He’s actually going to help me work on my profile with advice from a man’s perspective. What a sweet guy!!

  • I asked him if guys in France send dick pics like they do in the US. He said that he’s heard from French women that they do. See? It’s not just a thing, it’s an international thing!!

  • He told me that he’s not available this weekend as he’s super busy with…whatever, and that’s fine with me because I don’t really want to have to get uncomfortable at the end of the evening if he wanted to get frisky (he also told me that he has a foot fetish!). Yikes! But he recommended that I take myself to see the cabaret at the Crazy Horse. He told me that it will blow me away.

  • I coudn’t sleep again last night, so during my insomnia, I booked myself a ticket to see the show tonight. This was NOT part of my plan at all, but I’m excited about it!

  • I also wrote to some guys on Tinder during my sleepless night (I’m back on Tinder and backing off of the Bumble)

  • And now I’m ready to hit the fleas!! I hope I don’t peter out early. Wish me luck with that. Jetlag’s gonna hit at some point.

OK, I better run for now. When I come back I’ll see if I can get you up to date on what’s going on with both the Jolly Old Elf and Ron the Rodeo Clown. They deserve a separate entry (maybe…)

Anyway, I’m super happy to be here in Paris and I can’t wait to get out there…gonna be a beautiful day!!

xox,
GS
