Pardon our dust in Site Updates

Hey everyone, happy Friday!

Wanted to post a quick heads up that there may be some brief downtime on the site over the next week or so in the wee hours of the morning. We’re deep into site optimization work, and while we’re doing our best to schedule this kind of thing between 3 and 5AM CST, there may be some hiccups here and there.

Remember, if you publish an entry and see a panda, just hit the back button and the text will still be there.

Thanks for your patience. It’s happening!

Thanks for letting us know. That's 9-11pm here in the UK I think. I have already seen the sad panda a couple of times but only briefly and I assumed it was something like this.
Love the roadworks sign and your little dog is so cute.

Oh yes!

Here's a suggestion I've been meaning to give you. I think it would be really nice if people could have the option of leaving comments anonymously. We wouldn't have to let them if we didn't want to but it would be nice if we had the the choice of allowing for those who wish to comment anonymously. I think some people may be more honest about some things if they knew they could say what they want from within the shadows.

Kef J🌞DI ⋅ June 29, 2018

If people wanted your anonymous opinions, they'd probably ask for them.

J🌞DI Kef ⋅ June 29, 2018

But HOW could they ask for them if we can't be anonymous???

Muffin Princess J🌞DI ⋅ June 29, 2018

I always hated anonymous notes on OD. They only ever seemed to be left when someone wanted to say something nasty.

J🌞DI Muffin Princess ⋅ June 29, 2018

That's the point. :) I'm curious as to how many nasty comments I'd get and how many people would then dare to say what's REALLY on their minds. It should be optional, though, instead of just no notes or everybody being able to leave notes non-anonymously

josh J🌞DI ⋅ June 29, 2018

Will take this into consideration, but i’m honestly pretty hesitant. There has been an increasing amount of harassment on the site lately, and i’d rather not give the trolls another tool. I’d rather build in protections that lead the site in the other direction and encourage more positive interactions in the community. Given the state of the internet these days, positivity is typically in short supply. Appreciate the suggestion though, keep em coming!

J🌞DI josh ⋅ June 30, 2018

Customized sharing like what FB has would be nice too, for if I want to share something with just one friend. :)

Wee hours of which earthly time zone?

NorthernSeeker July 13, 2018

It would be great to get another update on how things are progressing.

josh NorthernSeeker ⋅ July 14, 2018

Working on it now! Look for it this weekend :)

NorthernSeeker josh ⋅ July 14, 2018

Sounds good!

J🌞DI July 16, 2018

Another suggestion: To be able to delete/move multiple entries at once. :)

How do we post pictures now that the picture button is gone?
