On a plane bound for New York. After a brief delay (incoming flight was late), I’m super excited to be sitting in first class (used my miles), in the air, drinking a glass of champagne and awaiting my soba noodle salad lunch.
I met the cutest little old lady in the Desigual store at the airport. I was actually throwing on a scarf because I was freezing and she helped me pick out a badass scarf that’s black and has big, bold bright red lips all over it. I know it sounds garish, but it’s super cool and this cute little lady helped me pick it out.
Anyway, we got to talking for like 15 minutes (she’s on her way to NYC as well) and she told me about an app called Via that’s like Uber or Lyft but you can share rides and it’s very inexpensive. Do you know of such a thing? Is it a good thing? I may see if I can try it out to get into the city when I land. It’s been so long since I’ve been to New York that I’ve never used any transportation besides taxis and subways. This will be a whole new experience!
Yesterday was the big presentation to a potential BIG customer at work. I attended to be part of the presentation of the Line That I Created (LTIC) and was all prepped for it. The customer had flown in 8 people to attend this meeting! I was ready for action!
Two funny/odd things happened prior to the meeting: (1) Boss said he would not be attending the meeting, and (2) Golden Boy came to me in private and asked if I would do the whole presentation and he’d chime in if there were places where he could support.
I did the whole presentation and rocked it, if I do say so myself. While Big Customer did not place an order immediately, they spoke directly to me and said that it’s just about the best design of this type of product they’d ever seen and that they absolutely want to place an order.
As soon as the presentation was over…and I mean, as Big Customer was just stepping out of the studio area, Boss came up from behind and scared the shit out of me and asked me how it went.
It was as if he’d been standing right behind me listening in, but I guess he hadn’t. We chatted a bit about it, and he did tell me that the design area looked great (where I’d set up all the product).
And Golden Boy told me that it was a really good presentation, so there’s that.
And the EVP of Sales was in the same room when I presented so I KNOW for sure that he knows what I’ve created…
So, what the fuck ever. I stayed late last night to review some stuff with Boss because I’m on vacation for the next two days and then he’s on vacation for a week next week and we HAD to get together to review my big presentation to the licensor next week.
And now I’m done with work for the next four days and ready to blow it out a bit. Not really into like killing myself or anything, but it will be nice to see old girlfriends and have some cocktails and some laughs and go to some nice eateries, museums, do a little shopping and just get that vibe back. I mean hell, why not kiss a boy or two while I’m there?
Speaking of boys, Bachelor Party Marty will NOT be in NYC this weekend. He texted me earlier in the week to tell me he was in [my city] for a day and asked if we could have drinks at my place (wink, wink) before he headed back out to the East Coast…but not New York. I told him no, that I was working late and couldn’t host him. And that was that. I haven’t heard more except for his excuse that his plans had been changing.
I’m totally okay with that. I didn’t really want to hook up with him anyway. I mean…kinda, to get that itch scratched. But if I were to be honest, I think I can get that itch scratched elsewhere. After all, New York City is the home to my first and only one night stand. I suppose I could do a repeat if things worked out that way. Anybody remember that story? It’s pretty awesome and hilarious and maybe I’ll tell it again one day.
ANYWAY. I’m now done with my soba noodle salad lunch. I didn’t eat the dessert or the bread and I’m hoping to stick with that plan throughout my weekend. I’m actually looking forward to getting lots of exercise on this trip. I’ve signed up for two Barry’s Bootcamps (the Chelsea location) over the weekend and I’m walking Central Park with [Charmingly Neurotic] on Friday. It’s going to be good, healthy fun. :)
Okay, maybe not 100% healthy, but I think it will be a lot healthier than many of my New York trips in the past.
I’m gonna sign off now. Got an hour and ½ left in this flight and I have two magazines to read and maybe even get a tiny bit of shut-eye since I did my 4:30am workout this morning!
Happy trails, my loves!
