Been seeing a lot of this shit around about older people being not right and that there should be an age limit on dating.
Lemme tell you a story:
All of the people whom I dated my age or 3 years my senior were toxic to me. All of them cheated, manipulated, used and even raped me.
The healthiest relationship for me right now is one with a woman 12 years my junior. I. Love. Her. We have had our ups and downs but we are in a healthy relationship. We care for one another. That is what love is.
Trust, communication, understanding, patience, caring and building each other up.
You will have moments where things are bleak and there will dark times because whoever told you love was like a Nicolas Sparks book, they are wrong.
Love can messy.
Now, and this is important here:
Regardless of gender, because men can fall victim to this too, be wary of older people who want to date you. If you are 18 - 22.. be careful with people over 5 years your senior.
Do they listen?
Do they care?
Do they understand the age difference and respect it?
If they are hurting or manipulating you or using you for sex or ANYTHING like that, RUN. That is PREDATORY. IDGAF who you are dating, if they treat you like shit, they do not love nor care for you.
Be wary of people who show “love” but its an illusion as well. This goes for dating anyone of any age and gender. Remember, love is NOT possessive, it’s not about using the other person.
This is also important:
Talk to your friends. Especially your older friends. Get their advice on the people you are dating, regardless of age and gender. If they are 5 plus your senior, look out for predators cause they are out there. It’s important to tell the difference. Older friends and family can sometimes help you out with this. Talk to your therapist if applicable.
Make sure that you have a partner who actually loves and cares for.
age is but a number but remember that certain people may be too old for you. At 18, I don’t recommend dating someone over 32. Hell, 30 is pushing it but like I said, sometimes there are exceptions BUT BE CAREFUL!!! Please.
There are so many nasty people out there and for women, it’s so much more dangerous.
Pick your partners carefully ladies.
