So. I Met Someone in These Foolish Things

You guys. You GUYS! What a crazy weekend it’s been.

My company rarely gives us bankers holidays, but for whatever reason, we always get Good Friday off work. Yeah, it’s a little odd, but I’ll take it. It’s usually a wonderfully warm Spring day and last Friday was no exception.

I actually slept in on Friday morning and it felt really, really good. I did some random things (I can’t even remember what), and at around noon I decided to take the dog for a nice long walk. I threw on my holey jeans and the t-shirt I’d worn the evening before. I also put on my super casual cowboy boots, and old suede jacket, kinda ran a comb through my hair (sorta), and no makeup. Oh, and of course, I wasn’t even showered. It was a very casual walk.

We walked to the city park and it was super crowded. Sat in the sunshine for a bit (the air was a little crisp, but oh so lovely in the sunshine).

But as I sat there with the dog, something kept pushing me to walk a few more blocks. I sometimes like to go to the new Starbucks Reserve that’s in a building a few blocks away. I also sometimes like to grab a mimosa at a little outdoor restaurant a few more blocks away.

We headed towards the Starbucks, but again I was pushed onward by some nagging feeling. I decided that since it was a lovely Spring day and I had the whole day off, why not go to the outdoor patio and have one mimosa. Then I could walk the dog home and take a shower and move on with the day.

To my surprise, the bar was nearly full! Everyone was sitting on one side where the sun was shining, and there was one seat at the bar left. I asked the guy sitting on the one side of me if I could sit on the stool next to him and he welcomed me. Truly and honestly, I thought nothing of sitting next to this guy. After all, I was kind of in I Woke Up Like This mode. I just ordered a mimosa.

But then he and I started talking.

And the conversation NEVER stopped! We’re talking HOURS of flirting and drinking and musical chairs as the sun moved. We kept trying to get back into the sunshine. We kept ordering drinks and snacks. We ended up at another wine place around the corner where the sun was still shining (and bottles of wine were ½ off!). And finally…finally at around 7:30, we decided to call it an evening, with promises of seeing each other for coffee/brunch/lunch the next day!

I’m going to do a RAD for what I’m calling our first date (which did turn out to be the next day - yesterday), but can I just tell you that I think this guy may be pretty damn perfect for me…and yet, of course, I’m afraid to jinx it here. I have spent most of today (Easter Sunday) thinking about how ah-may-zing this person is and how I’d just LOVE to think this might be something really, really, REALLY exciting and good!!

And still, I don’t want to jump the gun. Oh, my. This could be a really interesting Spring!

Happy Easter, my friends!
xox,
GS

That is amazing news. And after all this time with all the electronically assisted dating you find a guy the old fashioned way.
