RUTHLESS in Postcards 4

I confess. I read a lot of mysteries. New authors poke their way into my consciousness often….unfortunately. Yes, I have a lot of bookcases, but the one behind the bed is home to the mysteries. They have overfilled their space.

Yesterday I moved two and a half shelves of history and biography books, there on the end, downstairs. Yes, I wiped down all the books. Yes, got those shelves clean too.

Downstairs, I discarded all the very old, high acid science fiction books. The E Cadell books got a shelf of their own as did the DE Stevenson volumes. Now there was room for the books from upstairs. Didn’t you really want to know all this?

I killed lots of dust bunnies. Ruthless me. Cleaned shelves. Parted with bags of once loved books. Cathartic.

You inspire me to do the same, so yes I needed to know.

I took them all down to the shop, but most are not worth saving. They will move on further to the Cerebral Palsy folks.

Dust bunnies multiply like...well, bunnies!
Gotta keep the population in check. :-)

The problem is, I can still see a little so keep adding more books.

What are high acid science fiction ? Is that the paper type they are printed on ? I have a huge collection of now out of print sci-fi. I admit my books are causing me the most anxiety about moving . I am sooo attached to them. People say, “ well, you are not reading them all again “ but I like looking at them and I know they are there . It’s a weird fixation. I know almost every book I have and if one is missing , and there are probably a thousand so half or more has to be culled for this move :/( . I just love real books. I also have this weird thought that if the net went down , I need real books !

I love that plaid chair - it looks so comfy and perfect for reading all those books!
