Awesome Week 3/14/2003

The people I'm living with next year kick ass. I ended up missing the celebrations for Toni's b'day bc I was hanging out with my future apartment-mates but it was really worth it. Last Wednesday was my friend Toni's 21st b'day, and originally we were going to have a sorority activity with the pledges, and then go out afterwards, around eleven. The activity got canceled, but I still assumed we were all going out at eleven. So when I got back from classes on Wednesday, and Ivy called me at 8 and asked if I wanted to go out to dinner, I figured I had more than enough time. We ended up going later than planned because I lost about $15, which really pissed me off. But instead of getting in a shitty mood and flipping out like I normally do, I just said 'Fuck it,' took money out of the ATM and went out anyway.

Me, Ivy, Ivy's housemate Maria and Ivy's friend Stephanie and I all ate at the student union and just goofed off. The only thing I don't like is that all three of them admitted to having sex in the bathroom, which kind of grossed me out, but anyway...The apartment itself is really nice and the girls seem generally sweet. They call me 'Little' just like Ivy does. (I'm Ivy's 'little sister' through the sorority, so her nickname for me is 'Little' and I call her 'Big'). Anyway, I thought it was really funny that both girls started calling me Little too. Afterwards, we all went to Starbucks and just hung out...It was just an awesome, relaxing night. Times like those make me glad that I'm in the sorority and glad that I transferred.

I got back to the dorms around ten, and when I looked on Toni's away message, she had already gone downtown to party. Felt kinda bad about that...About ten minutes later, I get an IM from Erin, from my sorority, asking me to go to Dunkin Donuts with her for a coffee run. I figured I'd go for the ride, since I already had coffee. It turns out, Sara, Nicole, and Christine were also in the car when Erin picked me up. We hung out in the Dunkin Donuts for an hour and a half just hanging out and being goofy. Erin said something really sweet to me. While we were pledging she and I never really got along, Erin was pretty mean to me, mostly.

In Binghamton, you have to pick out your housing arrangements for the next year a year in advance, which is probelmatic when you're a transfer student who doesn't know anyone. Anyway Erin and Corinne, my pledge sisters, were also looking for places to live. I had asked to live with them, and Erin very rudely gave me a flat-out no. And she did other stuff that just generally made me feel unwanted and just crappy.

So at the Dunkin Donuts Erin says to me, "Artist I know I've said it before but I've always felt really bad about how I treated you. I'm so sorry, I love you." And Nicole chips in, "Everyone adores you Artist." I just felt so good leaving that coffee shop that night. Between my Syracuse weekend the night before, that night with Iy and my future apartment-mates, and the night in Dunkin Donuts just made me feel so wonderful...It sounds really cheesy but stuff like that means a lot to me. So yeah, hopefully, the rest of this year will be as great as that week before my spring break.
