Had a weekend getaway, went to King of Prussia, my cousin’s wife and I to shop at the mall and the guys to go to the guitar show. We used to do that for a few years and then it got old so we didn’t go for a couple of years but thought to give it a try this year. We won’t do it again. Shopping at the mall was somewhat of a bust altho I did get a pair of black booties and a pair of gloves. Jcpenny is no longer at the mall, nor is Barnes and noble and the clothes are just not inspiring to either my friend nor me. The guys felt the same way about the guitar show, same old, same old—had hoped after a few years absence, it would seem fresh again, nope.

We did find a new microbrewery to try altho our favorite was gone, guess they couldn’t compete with the new one that came in, and we had a delicious meal at the Italian restaurant, maggianos. Jeff and I had eaten there a few years ago and my son and DIL had given us a gift certificate that we hadn’t used. I had lasagna, Jeff spaghettini carbonara and we each took half of our entree home

Even tho the shopping and guitar show weren’t like they used to be, it was nice just getting away. Didn’t overeat at all altho we ate more junk than normal, ie., flights of beer, fried oysters, calamari, crab cakes, bacon wrapped jalapeños—bar food—,we each had a salad with our entrees and the fresh vegetables tasted so good, you can be sure this week we will be eating much more healthier.

I walked the mall several times and if I had any doubts about having knee surgery, they have been banished. I was able to walk, but it was hard and I was hurting and hobbling. I did try to sit down and rest a bit but I really need to get them done. I do have a call in to an orthopedic doctor for a second opinion and one that I will have do the surgery as opposed to my original doctor. I had actually called him Friday before we left and they called back so I will call them Monday.

Life in other areas is pretty much the same—work is ok. I am co-training. our newest hire who is a quick study so hopefully there won’t be any hitches to her going on her own after her six month training/probation ends, which will be the middle of march. I had already told the higher ups that I am planning knee surgery the end of March/middle of April so they have been put on notice.

Nice to get away but always nice to come back home, the cats are always so happy to see us and altho we had a nice king bed to sleep in, my queen bed just feels like “home”.

I think it's best to at least get them done before things get worse. We were disappointed in the Rockport stores. They were all selling the same stuff.

From what you've said in your entry, and from what I've gathered from your notes, it sounds like knee replacement surgery on both knees would be the way to go. I hope you get all of your questions answered when you meet with your new doctor and that you feel comfortable with him/her. Wonderful that you were able to get away but sorry it was kind of a bust. Maybe next time you can go somewhere that you've never been before. It's good for the soul to get away now and again. I have to tell you as well, I love Italian food but it's been so long since I've had good Italian food.
