First off, I love you guys. Thank you so much for the notes of encouragement, and most of all, the words of wisdom! I love reading each and every thought. It’s helpful. Truly.

That being said, even though I may have tried to put on my big girl pants yesterday, I took them off and put on a minidress last night…

And met Maria out at the fancy pants hotel bar where our favorite singer was performing last night. She said she didn’t want a late night, and I didn’t either.

But when an evening STARTS with a bottle of bubbly followed by expresso martinis and then more bubbly, you know it’s probably going to be a late night.

Long story short, we had a lovely evening, sitting at the bar. Had some snacks to put something in our stomaches, watched the singer belt out some wonderful stuff, and eyed this tall, fairly handsome stranger. Maria wanted to know all about him.

Of course, Maria ended up getting his attention…as only Maria can do. I’ve told you how direct Maria is, haven’t I?

Long story shorter, turns out he LIVES (at least part of the time) in the residences of another super fancy hotel. He asked us if we wanted to go to the other bar where he’d buy us a nightcap and we said OF COURSE!

Maria and I had both taken separate ride share services (me, Lyft; she, Uber), so we ended up getting in his Bentley Continental (I say this for context - I just looked up these cars…they are $250K and up), and rode with him to his luxury high-rise condo.

Once there, he said, “Why don’t you come check out my place before we go to the bar. We can have a drink up there.”

Well, sure! We were both soooooo curious about what those fancy-pants residences looked like. I’d never been in them, though they are very, very close to my own apartment. They are just super exclusive and I’ve never known anyone who lived there.

Guys, we were NOT disappointed by the absolutely INSANE extravagance. This place was beyond over the top. Like, FILLED with art (including an original Renoir!), hand-painted drapery, incredible sparkling geodes, books, wine, luxury linens, absolutely stunning fixtures (chandeliers, hardware), just every little detail and touch was beyond.

Now. I didn’t dig the guy’s taste whatsoever, except for his choices in bubbly. The guy has never once used the appliances in his kitchen, but his fridge was filled with Veuve Cliquot, and that’s what did it for me!

We stayed and laughed and soon Maria was telling us that she HAD to get going. She said goodbye, and of course I stayed a little longer because I tend to overstay my welcome lately. I wanted to finish my glass of (now) sparkling rose champagne on the balcony to soak in the view. Even though his place was absolutely brimming with amazing artifacts, what I really loved was the view.

Ended up kissing the guy, but not really into it. He kept trying to get me to put on some shorts and one of his tees (like I was going to spend the night!) and I realized that this was a mistake to stay to finish my glass of wine. Yikes.

Anyway, we said our goodbyes and he put me on the elevator and I got a Lyft the few blocks home.

When I checked my phone to see what time it was, I saw THREE THIRTY-SEVEN on my phone!! Um, what? Who do I think I am lately with the drunken late, late nights??!

I paid for it all day today. There was one part in the afternoon when I felt so poorly that I couldn’t even raise my head from the bed.

I can’t do this anymore! No more drunkfests, young lady!

Let’s see if I can stick to my word - Steve McQueen and I have made a date for tomorrow! I told him that I could NOT have a repeat of last Sunday…at least not from the drinking standpoint. It really messed up my Monday. But let’s also see what happens from the (ahem) other standpoint.

Life is fun!
