First of all, Happy Birthday to meeeee!! Today I turn 50, and it has been a pretty fun day even though I’ve been in the office allllll damn day. Lots of fun messages on social media, via text and in person here at work.

Tonight I will see Steve McQueen (I don’t think he even realizes that it’s my birthday… ha!) . He’s taking me to see some band?? I’m not sure what that’s all about, but I have to tell you, the man is SUPER creative when it comes to dates! I love it.

haven’t had any time to update on the road trip, so I will bulletize now because I need to get going soon.

Look, road trips are always amazing. Getting there can be half the fun. In this case it was awesome because (a) Athena, and (B) we had a couple of fun stops on the way. In particular, these amazing sand dunes that were like giant hills of sand.

The drive took 11 hours total. Once we got there, we experienced the following, and then some:

• Stars, stars and more stars.

• We “camped” in the coolest little Airstream camper

• Outdoor shower!!

• Some of the coolest art I’ve ever seen in my life

• Fun talks, serious talks, good talks

• The Orionid meteor shower, 2 early mornings in a row before dawn

• Super dry bubbly that Athena drank with me… cheers!!

• Good, ultra fresh food

• Hours of driving to see art installations

• Small town vibes

• Cowboy vibes

• Tumbleweeds

• Hammock naps

• Heat and cold - one extreme to the other

• Oh…my TERRIBLE packing and my one pair of undies (I blame SMcQ for throwing me off my packing game). I wore the same outfit for like, 3 days.

• Worth it.

• Dudes with crazy hair

• Tattoos

• Teepees

• Incredible food truck grub

• Cinnamon rolls the size of my face

• Podcasts

• Lots and lots of road time

• Lots of coffee

Seriously, it was a wonderful, wonderful trip. I am grateful that Athena went with me. I could have and would have done this trip solo, but this one was really special with A.

OK. Gotta roll. More Birthday adventure…I will catch up with you later!

xox,
GS
