University of Rochester 3/26/2002

I got in today. After two years of waiting, I finally got into the goddamn school. The funny thing is I barely even had a reaction. I was in Erin's room and wasn't even listening when the woman told me. She had to repeat it. I had been told that once I sent in my midterm grades I should call up admissions to "make sure everything is in order." Basically, I can ask if it looks if I got in or not. The transfer admissions counselor told me right off the bat that I was accepted. The REALLY funny thing is that I forged the mid-term report. I got a C+ on my chem midterm, which was the average for the class, but I didn't want it to fuck up my chances. That and the fact that my professors are so hard to access anyway, so I just signed their names. I gave myself all of my actual midterm grades (B+, an A, and an A- in Art History, Anthropology, and Studio Art respectively). I just bumped up my chem grade from a C+ to an A-. Its what my chemistry prof is going to give me the end of the semester anyway, since I'm on the borderline. (He bumps up borderline kids). So you know what this has taught me? Cheating gets you the things you want, not playing by the rules.

Ironically, after all this effort, my mom probably won't let me go. It's a private school like Syracuse so its very expensive. The thing is, UR has a 75% acceptance rate into medical school. SU and Binghamton don't have that. Also, they'll allow me to double major in art and bio, which no other school that I've encountered so far will let me do. So yeah..today has definitely been bittersweet. I mean, my high school grades were SO much higher than my college grades..I took so many AP's and everything. I didn't have to send in another essay, because they simply reactivated my application from last year. The only other thing is my original application that wasn't a factor in my second application was SAT's. Basically, this f**king school rejected me based on standardized test scores. Argghh...OK I have to go and do a chem lab now...I'll write more later
