Roller Coaster (Cont'd) 8/2/2001

We went out to dinner last night (me, Jake, John, Becca, and my mom) and we ran into some of John's classmates. One of the girls were having a birthday party and they all called out his name as they walked out. I definitely did not have guys calling out my name in ninth grade. Hell, I don't have guys calling out my name now. Becca's phone is always ringing off the hook and she's constantly going to parties. Jake is quiet like me, but he has an angelic personality that makes him well loved...I just feel like the dud. After today, I definitely feel like a dud.

I went out driving and I felt a little better. I'm an all-around good driver and I'm learning to parallel park. (My driving test is on the 16th). I was doing pretty good today, which put me in a better mood. What really put me in a good mood though is that when I got home I found out my housing assignments for Syracuse. I wanted a split double (a double room with a wall down 3/4 of it. That way, if my roommate is a bitch or a nympho I don't have to see her. Unfortunately, I ended up getting a regular double room.) But I did get an awesome dorm. I got one of the smaller dorms on campus, which is a major plus. Some of SU's dorm are 21 stories high, and I definitely did not want one of those. I'm in a coed by alternating room dorm, which kicks some major ass. That's exactly what I wanted, and I was sooo happy I got it. I heard that mixed floors are definitely fun. My roommate lived in New Jersey, which is also cool. I definitely adore some of my southern friends, but I was glad to have someone living close by as a roommate.

My roommate, Laurie, called me a little while ago. I was planning to call her tomorrow, but as I was IMing one of my friends, my mother yells, "Your roommate is on the phone!" She sounds really sweet. (Knock on wood). She's willing to split the cost of a fridge. I'm bringing up a coffeemaker and the tv and she said she'll bring up a stereo and the phone. She's in the Communications school, which is #1 in the country. She's a smart cookie--I didn't want some dumb kid who go into SU by the seat of her pants. She works at a bakery which tells me she's either not a trust fund baby, or she's rich but is cool about it. Either one works for me. She's not into crazy partying and hates beer. We promised to keep in touch. I'm so happy she hasn't acted like a snob or a anti-social study lunatic. Granted, I've only talked to her for fifteen minutes, but I feel better about the school already. So, my work day sucked, but once I got home it was all good. So now I'm in a really good mood. I even smiled....
