NSLC and Fake Licenses 2/8/2001
It stands for the National Student Leadership Conference; my school nominated me to go to D.C. for six days, stay at George Mason University, and take part in the Medicine and Healthcare program. I've decided to forget about my art and become a biology major, and I figured this would be a good start. Since I'm not going to go to graduation or my prom, my parents wanted to give me some sort of graduation gift. They wanted to give me a party, but considering the way my friends act at parties (see On the Outside Looking In entry) I didn't want one. A few weeks ago, I got an acceptance letter into the NSLC. I never applied, my school, applied for me, so I was a bit confused at first. When I found out what it was, I decided that this would be my present. After all, what could be so bad? I'm in a major city with a fake ID, and I get to do science stuff, which I find extremely interesting. (Yes, I know I'm dorky :o) What could be so bad? And if I really hate it, I only have to live through six days, instead of six week, like CMU.
I went to spain when I was in tenth grade for my sweet sixteen present (this trip was through the school, so several of my other friends went with me) and me and my friends had a blast. We drank, we partied, and we saw some beautiful places. Granted D.C. isn't Spain, it has a drinking age, my friends won't be there with me...wait...why am I listing the bad qualities???
Anyway, maybe it'll be fun. It'll give me a chance to get away, and hopefully, my rommate will be as cool as my CMU roommate. Plus, I will have my fake ID ready if Becca actually follows through with her promise. Her best friend Michele (fuck it, I'll use her real name. No-one knows who I'm talking about and I'm not in a name-making mood) looks almost exactly like me. Michele is going to to to the DMV in April, when she turns 21, and ask for a new license because she "lost" her old one. She'll give me one, she'll keep one and POOF! I have a fake ID. It's not even fake; it's a valid driver's license. So, I definitely have some things to look forward too. Now, if University of Rochester would just accept me, my life would be set... :o)
Until my next ramble
