While He’s Away/Love Unsurpassed

Shadows pass to hide the tears
While he’s away.
For his country he fights
To return home some day.

Without him
She’s incomplete.
The waiting,
Wanting,
Praying,
And weeping
Disturbs her
In her sleep.

His things piled about,
Shoes sprawled on the floor –
Still laying scattered
From when he was there before.

His scent still in the air
And his voice still in her ear;
Longing for his return to arms,
Hoping again to hold him near.

His heartbeat still warming
And his taste still on her lips;
Tomorrow she’ll see morning
And remember feeling like this.

Her age, plus one,
Raises brow of many;
Ages past and love unskewed
To harness forever harmony.

Her mind
He should read,
To discover the feelings
Still left unseen.

Happy together
A love without lies –
They’re seen through to each other,
The the love in their eyes.
