Halloween

The cats scratch,
The werewolves howl –
The vampires hunt
And the witches scowl.
Tonight unleashes
All that is gloom –
The ghosts, the reapers
And witches on broom.
With wind howling
Down the gateway flume,
The rotting rise
For their night of doom.
Insipid, yet stenchful
The draining from your neck;
The vampiress is coming
To devour your speck.
This dream will end
With death or dawn;
Be mindful of the buzzards
Gathered on your lawn.
