Why do you thank me?

Why do you thank me
When you feel like you’re last?
I did nothing.
I talked to you.
Maybe it was that you needed someone;
Someone to make you laugh.
It’s what I do
Because deep down
You’re precious inside –
I love you.

Be good to yourself
And set this weariness away.
Awaken tomorrow
For this lovely new day.

Please don’t thank me
For what comes from the heart.
I feel naturally compelled to you
And always have from the start.
