Branded Away

Brown eyes scanning
Me and others around –
Impervious to the lost matter
From depths of this old town.

A new place
Warm and full of individuality;
All the things you were missing
From here, your altered reality.

Away from home,
Carried by new people,
Enveloped in new things;
Praying under a new steeple?

Arms open,
You open to receive hugs
From the ones you love
And the ones that bugged.

Even they received your mercy
Until it was time to go again;
Time to separate that love
And live once more, canned.

Until the next time, Brandie,
We’ll sit by, waiting, it’s true –
To show your cinnamon face, smiling
And bring us back to life through you.
