A Night With You

I long for a night with you
When candles flicker the walls.
Ragged breath across my neck tickles
And soft peeps ripple down the hall.

With eyes locked keenly
Into each other’s sleepy haze,
We press into torrent bliss
With the sun breaking the curtain’s maze.

Through the night, intertwined,
With the scent of love in the air,
You gaze deeply right through my eyes
And tears of joy stream to your hair.

You smile and whisper, “I love you, babe”–
Your breathing strenghtens and then halts.
I feel you squeeze and shake on me
As we overcome our inner faults.

Still enveloped in my arms you smile
And everything’s OK.
I hold you until you fall asleep
And awaken to a new day.
