A Day With The Children
I awake in the morning
Ready for class.
It’s me that is teaching –
Ready for my task.
I hop in the car
With a smile on my face.
The drive’s not far
But my heart does race.
My excitement is shown
As I walk in the room.
Their little faces shining –
Their minds in bloom.
I say, “Hi, good morning,”
And the day begins.
My day with the children
Where everyone wins.
Though they are not always like
Others their age –
They strive to learn more
As they turn every page.
We play games and sing songs
About current events.
I show them the world
With quizzes and hints.
At the end of the day
We all turn to go home.
The books go away –
The room is alone.
I drive home at night
Leaving behind another day.
I know in my heart
That those children will make their way.
