Can dreams tell a story
Of hurt to come?
Can dreams tell a story
Of loss of loved ones?

Are they prophetic nightmares
That swizzle away hope?
Are they open-ended wild hairs
That befuddle the Pope?

Can dreams tell a story
That can move mountains?
Can dreams tell a story
That can drain fountains?

Can dreams unravel fantasies
So heartedly emblazoned?
Can dreams knock out promises
So innocently envisioned?
