What I Did... in These Foolish Things

…after the guy ran away from our date (see previous entry), I stood in awe, watching him run away.

Finally, after picking my jaw off the ground, I sent him a text that said, “Wow. That’s a first. Did I offend?”

But of course I never heard back from the guy, and I guess it’s just as well.

And since I’d literally just shown up at the restaurant area, sort of gussied up for a date, I didn’t really feel like calling a Lyft immediately. Directly across the street from the loud and crowded Mexican place is a new, cool, kind of sceney-y bar that I’d been wanting to try for a while now, so I went over there and found a spot at the bar and got myself a sparkling wine.

Before long, I ended up talking with some other folks at the bar, and really, the reason I did was that I’d been there a little while and I’m sure they were wondering why I was sitting there all by my lonesome, drinking sparkling wine by myself.

As if on cue (somehow knowing I needed a little ego boost?), one of them told me that my hair looked amazing and another one said I looked really pretty, and the third one was complimentary as well. So I told them the story of The Sprinter and they were in disbelief as well.

We laughed, we drank, we became facebook friends (ha!), and THEN we all decided to go to another venue to hear some Beatles cover band that was supposed to be amazing (?????). Guess I was game because I found myself in their car headed to a fancy-schmancy hotel to hear this band.

It was an okay time, but by the time we got there and they bought me another glass of Champagne and we’d danced to David Bowie (turns out, the band covered all kinds of British acts), I quietly excused myself and walked out to grab a Lyft to go home. I was exhausted, full of complements and terribly overserved.

It’s been a long while since I’ve done something that random - just getting into some strangers’ car to go dance in another place. Like I said, fun, but it was just a bizarre night.

As soon as I got home, I immediately fell into the bed and woke early to walk the dog and felt the heavy waves of a hangover washing over me yesterday morning. Went back to bed for a couple more hours until it was time to get up and get ready for brunch club.

Of course, there was a LOT of discussion around the Sprinter at brunch club. Not even six female heads could wrap our collective brain around this one.

It remains a mystery.

After brunch club, I went to get a haircut at my new fave salon with my new fave stylist, but I was still overcome with hangover and there was nothing I could do to get over it except go home and sleep it off some more.

And then, of course, I was starving so I ordered a pizza. See? Drinking gives me horrible habits. Must learn not to overdo it!!! Must not drink to excess anymore!

Ate some pizza, slept some more. What a waste of a day.

So today I get to see my brother and his family! They are coming to town and we are meeting at an authentic Chinese dim sum place! I’m super excited to see them, and I LOVE this dim sum venue, so it’s going to be wonderful!

Oops. They just called. It’s time for me to go.

Have a great Sunday, all!
