Today I sent an e-mail to the production company stating that if they didn't pay me my money that I was advised to my lawyer the next step would be a lawsuit. I also sent the message to their facebook and the owner's cell phone. They did reply saying that the funds were on hold and blah blah blah other bullshit excused. He gave me the option to void the contract or he could update the contract with a new date in which I would receive payment.
I really wanted this, but I'm not a moron. It took them two months to get me a contract and they're already a week late with the payment. They were only paying me $500. What kind of production company doesn't have an extra $500. I also Google mapped their address for the first time and it looks like they're operating out of a house. I was already nervous about them doing a shitty job with my script and with everything that's happened I just had no faith in them. I asked to void the contract.
He replied subtly making it sound like I was making a mistake. I could've done it and eventually got my $500, but it would have been a crappy production (if it ever was made) and would have never went anywhere further. I'd rather try to shop it around. It's nearly impossible to sell a TV pilot directly, so I'll look for contests and competitions. Bottom line is they were unprofessional and treated me badly so they weren't getting my script. I'm not looking forward to telling my family. It's whatever, I guess.
I applied for a pretty decent job today for a company that was just featured as one of the best small businesses to work at in the city. It's a market research firm. I meet all the qualifications and I think it pays pretty well. I hope I get an interview. My job is super depressing. I need to get out.
Nothing much too exciting is going on. I've written here two days in a row. We'll see if that continues.
