STEPPING UP in Postcards 4

Grey steps
trod on by long
skirted
ladies
lifting their hems
up against the dust.
Red steps
trod on by town selectmen
briefcases
in hand
projects in mind.
Brown steps
danced on by
long
haired
hippy type
youth
flowers
in hand
and love in their hearts.
Grey steps
now sat on by
homeless
their unwashed bodies
and unused dreams
staying in the now.

I like your poem...I like the rhythm of it.

This is lovely - I had such a clear image of those steps!
Intrigued by the photo - I've never seen pictures put up on the lower part of a staircase wall before - usually they're above the banister.
