I Miss You in My Poetry Slams

Food to dirt and wine to ash
You got your bill, ready to dash
Leave your responsibilities behind
Forget the fast forward and just rewind

To the times you weren’t afraid to live
When you were quick to laughter
And slow to tempter
When it was easy to forgive
And you weren’t just another shell in the sand

What happened to our smiles?
The times we’d laugh for miles?
Singing along to our favorite songs
Feeling like we finally found where we belong

I miss that look in your eyes
When you finally spied
The surprise I kept hidden
The roses that came unbidden

I miss you.
