The inevitable in Deplorable thoughts

I am addicted to the news lately.
It’s become a rather unhealthy obsession, but I cannot stop.
This is the train wreck from which I cannot escape.

I am as drawn to all this as I am appalled by it.
Great though the distress it causes, I cannot spur me to turn away.

I talk back to the television, the radio, the internet.
I find myself making the occasional emphatic rude gesture
and more frequently using language I won’t repeat.

It is so very hard to watch it all devolving.
It is incredibly difficult to see that those who plot are winning,
that the architecture of our government is being eroded through lies and manipulation,
careful planning mixed with absolute stupidity and heedless serendipity.

At this point, I see the implosion coming and I just pray it comes quickly.
The faster the disaster, I fervently hope, the sooner the recovery.
(Please heaven there must be recovery.)

This president, cringe to call him that,
this president is everything we feared
AND MORE.
