BQFF and Bieber in Adventures in paradise

I’m still sick, which isn’t fun. Luckily it’s been mostly flu-ey. I didn’t think so much gunk was possible to come out of one human, but that’s me right now. Just thought I’d share haha.

Anyway, of course this has to happen when I’ve had so many events on. Yesterday I barely even made it to Big Gay Day, but I did, with about less than an hour before it ended. I didn’t even need my ticket as they were letting people in for free by that point anyway. So pretty much wasted $40 on the ticket, but hey, shit happens, and I did get to see it. I didn’t see anyone I knew, so I briefly wandered around, pretended to dance a bit (even though everyone else was sufficiently boozed by that point). There were still quite a few people there, but not anywhere near as packed as it would have been earlier on in the day. Still, I can say I made it.

I had to work so I didn’t get out until 4pm, and the plan was to go to Big Gay Day and then leave again to go to the Queer Film Festival to see a film I was seeing at 7pm, and then go back after the movie for the last part. I ended up deciding to just go after the movie, that way I could relax a bit and I was pretty stuffed from work anyway, and I wouldn’t be so rushed. So that plan worked well it that way, but it means I missed most of the people that probably would have been there earlier in the day. I dunno, I wasn’t there. I only know some were there via their social media.

Anyway, this was the third film I’ve seen so far at the Brisbane Queer Film Festival. It’s independent this year, so I’m happy to support, plus it’s so hard to find gay movies especially in Brisbane, so when the film festival is on, I try to go!
I’ve been very lucky so far with the quality of the movies I’ve chosen to see. The first one was the Queer Film Shorts after work on Saturday, and there were a couple of good ones. One of them was really annoying but other than that I really enjoyed it. Then I had a bit of a break before the 9pm session, which was Paris 5:59.
Holy. Shit.
What a movie that was. The first 30-40 minutes of the movie was basically porn. Not even kidding. It was set in a gay sex club in, obviously, Paris. There were dicks and arses everywhere, sucking and licking cocks, even penetration. At one point, I was even thinking, “Fucking hell, are they STILL fucking?” I even wondered how the hell they found these actors because ‘acting’ those scenes would be impossible haha!
I even had a look around to see if anyone had pulled their dick out for a wank, because it just seemed to be the thing someone would do that long into a scene like that haha. Obviously not though, because you’d get kicked out.
Anyway, there was a reason for such a long sex-intro to the film I guess. The scene finally moved from the sex club and it became a pretty awesome love story. And it was even more exciting because I recognized a couple of the scenes that they were running through. Like, “Holy shit, I was THERE 18 months ago!”

Then yesterday’s film was “Being 17”, which was yet another French film. Very different, but this time I had a few of my friends seeing the film with me, as they decided to come - that being Vish, James and Mitch. It was another really entertaining film, and the boys all liked it.
The last gay film Vish and James saw with me was an Aussie one called “Monster Pies” and all three of us were in streams of tears and I wasn’t allowed to ever pick a film again LOL. They chose to come to this one on their own accord, and thankfully it wasn’t as sad.

Usually I see a film by now that I haven’t liked, but I’ve been lucky. I’ve still got 5 more to see, but the next one isn’t until Wednesday, so it’s good to have a bit of a break. If the rest are crap, I just have to think how good these first few were. I’ll definitely be buying the DVD’s if I can find them.

Tonight I’m off to the Justin Bieber. This will be my second time seeing him live, with the first being at the Entertainment Centre in 2013. I even found my old ticket haha. Tonight’s is at Suncorp Stadium, and I’m hoping the noise from the screaming girls will carry on out of the stadium, since it’s open roof. The Entertainment Centre concert was horrific in the way that the girls screaming was deafening. I even had earplugs in and was going deaf from it.
I’m seeing him again because my friend Julian asked me, AND I know how good he was last time. I was seriously impressed. He might be a douchebag Canadian, but man he puts on a good show. Although, having said that, apparently his one in Melbourne was a fizzer and people complained that he just didn’t seem into it at all. So I get that impression that it’ll happen here too, and if it does, I’ll be glad I saw him last time when he was actually good.
Haha, look at me writing him off already. I’m sure it’ll be good.
The funny thing is, last concert of his I went to alone and wore like a disguise incase i ran into anyone I knew. This time I’m going with two other gay friends and wearing a My Little Pony Rainbow Dash shirt LOL.

Monster Pies made me so irrationally angry. I wasn't crying, I was fuming and screaming. Ugh

I heard the premiere of Something Like Summer happened at one of your festivals and I wondered if you'd seen it. The book is one of my absolute favorites.

I'm with you on the illness. It's awful having the plague.

I haven't heard of Something Like Summer. Maybe it was at the Sydney film festival and not ours? I know King Kobra got snubbed for ours but was in Sydney's, but is apparently already on Netflix. What's it about?
