Happy Hour tonight. It was impromptu and it was very welcome.
Met my old counterpart, Ryan and another friend from work out at a bar close to my apartment after I picked up the dog from daycare. We got out early at work, so it was a little after 4pm when I got there. Perfect timing. We sat on the patio and drank and laughed and chit-chatted until a little after 7 when I announced that I needed to leave because I had an appointment at the Genius Bar at the Apple store to fix my cracked screen (it’s been cracked since summer when I fell down because of a crack in the sidewalk - I kid you not!).
Well, I missed the appointment because I needed to get some things at home, so by the time I got here, I noticed a bunch of packages had been delivered (my spending spree over the weekend), and of course I needed to check everything out.
Luckily, the dog’s gifts came already gift-wrapped. So there’s her Christmas already done! :)
Other deliveries included sparkly boots and my new fabulous faux fur fluffy, amazing coat that I’ll probably wear three times this year.
No matter. What fun!
Today I had lunch with Emotional A, a former staff member of mine whom BOSS fired. Yeah, it was a tough lunch, but it was good. I just felt like I needed her to know that I was sorry that she was let go. She was extremely humble and in a good place, and for that I was really happy. She’s from New York and will end up going back to New York (all of her family AND her boyfriend are there) and I have no doubt that things will work out even better for her than they had been. Still, it was not an easy thing for either of us. I’m so glad she was in a really decent place, and I hope I helped her feel like she’s making progress. I’m writing her a letter of recommendation. I hope that this small gesture will help her a bit. She was a tough but fragile cookie. I truly hope she finds something amazing in NY.
OK. Need to close as I need to get the dog out for her last walk of the evening. Then it’s to bed for us because we gotta get up early to do the TURKEY TROT! It’s a 5K through downtown and it’s tons of fun. I walked it last year with Athena. This year, since she’s at her beach house, I will walk it with Martini, then go home and drive to my parents house. We’ll go to a Mexican restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner (our tradition!) and then I’ll spend the night at their house.
I’m looking forward to this time tomorrow! Happy Thanksgiving Eve!
