A beautiful autumn day outside, here, in the lower center palm of the mitten. The sky is a deep corn flower blue, clear as Lake Superior, and the riot of tall and varied trees waving their orange, red and brindle leaves in a gentle warm breeze. I’ve seen three autumns this year; early autumn in the high sierras and the cascade enveloped valley East-center of the square (Oregon), Deep south Mississippi and Lousiana swamp autumn, warm and still, and the autumn where I live, now, and today is perfect.

When moved and/or asked, I will say autumn is my favorite season. Today, here, is what I picture, or, sometimes, the wind and rain that warn all growing things of cooler temperatures. Oh, yeah, I caught pieces of that national geographic global warming documentary with Leonardo Di-Caprio (I’m sure I spelled that wrong). The cinematography was great. When he’s off script Leo sounds like an idiot; large chunks of glaciar falling into the artic sea, he says “Wow, I mean, you know, wow.” That’s one of his good off script things. They flew him and a crew and hired a team of geologists so he could say Wow.

I think I found something else to do when they started showing a montage of politicians denying global warming. In the course of my increasingly long tenure on this planet I’ve found a great many things not worth responding too, not because of the content, but because of the futility of me adding noise to the world. Unless spoiling for a fight there is no point in arguing for or against the lack of something. Someone who believes empirical things didn’t or aren’t or ain’t gonna happen (the holocaust, global warming, who got nobel peace prizes for what) isn’t going to be swayed by anything I have to say. Pissed off maybe, but hell, six million dead Jews, Rising sea levels and documentation of nobel peace prize events from the get go are all more persuasive than me coughing “douchebag”.

Also, although I don’t think it’s measurable, I don’t a lack of belief in events that occurred, are occurring, or will occur, effects the outcome. There are certainly studys and claims of the opposite, large numbers of people praying for a positive outcome, but I’ve never seen a study on ‘ignore-it-and-it-will-go-away’ either individually or collectively. That’d be a great masters thesis for someone who doesn’t really want to graduate. They could use the same thesis to not get a doctorate degree too. Not saying it’s a dumb idea, just saying it’s an impossible one. There’s a large number of the voting public who seem to think that if their candidate is elected both Roe V Wade and evolution will simply never have happened. Oh and that sending Mexicans to Mexico will somehow make terrorism never happen. Bush went to Iraq and Afghanistan, he should have gone to Jaurez. Again.

I guess I’m voting for a seat as Regent for both U of M and MSU. I don’t recall ever seeing that on a ballot anywhere ever. I didn’t think they were elected positions. I mean I can see why, they are both State Universities and regents use state funds (and tuition) for … stuff. Still, never seen it before. As best as I can tell it’s non partisan and, I think at least with U of M they number of people running are the number of open seats. Can I get a WTF? Gimme a W! Gimme a T! Gimme a F! What’s that spell? What’s that spell? What the Fuck!

My mom isn’t much help. She says she never understands or knows half the shit she votes for, just votes democrat across the board. When I asked her about measures and stuff she said she thinks she’s losing some hair. I don’t think any of that is uncommon. I think long standing republicans are conflicted, have been conflicted ever since the tea party tea bagged the GOP, and some idiot said “Well, at least it can’t get any worse” and jinxed the GOP for life. Still, what about regents, sherrifs, measures?

I guess I was spoiled in Oregon. Ballots came in the mail and thick voters pamphlets outlined everything from voting records of candidates to pros and cons and the letter of measures. I haven’t a clue what is going on here. I know the clowns trying to invest in real estate on Pennsylvania avenue (it’s a rental) but shit, if, for instance, I was concerned about regents, I don’t know anything about any of those clowns.

Yeah, sorry, my election anxiety is a bit forced. I’m mostly playing with new equipment. Love this monitor. My photos didn’t come out so well.
