The Huffington Post and The Minimum Wage Debate in Rants

The Huffington post, an unequivocally liberal online media outlet, has posted articles to its hallowed pages regarding the proposals across the country to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour, a rate that is heralded to be considered a “living wage.”
However, The Almighty Huffington Post itself doesn’t pay its own contributors a dime!
Yes, there are some paid staff, but there are hundreds, if not thousands, of contributors who are not paid, but they gain “exposure” so that someone will read their article and then hire and actually pay them for their writing.
What the hell?
Many creative artist-type people (writers, painters, illustrators, graphic designers, etc) are apparently not doing “real” work, so they don’t have to be paid a “real” wage, right?
You call a plumber to come to your house to fix your clogged toilet but tell them that you’re not going to pay them but you will post a great review of them on facebook so they can get exposure.
How fast do you think the plumber will hang up on you?
Of course! People don’t work for free! Nor should writers, artists, and other professionals who are constantly asked to do work for free “for the exposure.”
Even our lawded liberal Democrats, the champion for the “underpaid,” had massage therapists and other holistic providers perform free services to attendees of the DNC convention “for the exposure.” The DNC convention must be a very stressful event if they have to have people come in for that.
But Gawd forbid a Burger King employee, a retail associate, or teenager doing any other entry level position make something less than $15 an hour! Meanwhile, the talented, educated writer can’t buy food that week because they’re only working “for the exposure.”
Seems like a lot of double-talking and double-standards to me.

It's liberal bullshit. Nuff said.

Hey, was just reading one of my longtime favorites on here (45 updates since I last logged in, I'll be a week catching up) and it reminded me that you would LOVE reading her too. She's freakin' hilarious - her handle is Cinderella. Just FYI.

And yes, friend means they can see your public & friends only posts, follow means you can see their public stuff- unless THEY have it friends only, in which case you can't unless you ask and they authorize it.
