Just Keep Swimmin' in Rants

I enjoyed the movie Finding Nemo. I don’t have kids and my nephews are adults now, so I have no other excuse as an adult to see the movie than to just say, I saw it. And enjoyed it.
Dory, in the movie, her line is “just keep swimmin’.”
In the last couple months, since the divisive election and eventual inauguration, I feel like that’s what we regular folk in the US need to do - just keep doing what we do. Just keep swimmin’.
There have been a lot of protests, rhetoric, vulgarity(vulva hats, really???), and boo-hooing since all of this, but when it comes down to it, in the end, all us regular folks can do is sit back and watch. Maybe write some e-mails to our congressmen or stuff like that.
If we just put half the effort of our bitching and moaning into the local areas to affect positive change, don’t you think our local areas would benefit as a result? Or just buy a damn cup of cawfie for someone…just because you’re a nice person. Pay for their breakfast in the drive-thru.
I dunno. Stuff that happens in DC honestly doesn’t affect my day-to-day life. Things annoy me, yes, but for the most part, I’m just trying to help people feel better and eek out a living while doing so.
I have so many friends on both sides of the political spectrum. And I mean…BOTH SIDES. I get it. You’re not happy HE got into office…you must be soooo....tolerant of everything around you - except those damn conservatives. And he’s a pig. Spouts off at the latest thing and gets very defensive at the lampooning him on SNL.
And on the other side you’re happy HE got into office....you probably want safe borders, a better economy, but then again....you must be a racist homophobic misogynist because you voted for HIM!
Ugh....I’m sickened by the divide in our country where its citizens proclaim United We Stand, Divided We Fall.
Looks like we’re falling, folks. Fasten your seatbelts. This ride may get bumpy.

From one racist homophobe to another I agree 100%. I had to start limiting my FB time because all the hate and bitching was making me either angry or depressed or both. Like, I love Tom to death but OMG, get a hobby!
