It turns out that Emma and Helen couldn't come to the Java Jam. Dave and Tom and the other people who usually come to these things didn't show up either. The show started late, so I ended up awkwardly standing around outside of Old Town Hall for half an hour, listening to these kids on conga drums. I talked a little to a couple of band people - a dorky freshman saxophone and a shallow colorguard girl who's friends with Ivy - but mostly I just stood around by myself. When they finally let us in though, I found Julian, sitting straight up on one of the couches they had set up and looking awkward. We talked for a while, but then four other band people came and sat down on the couch and he got freaked out and moved. I ended up sitting on the couch with them for the rest of the show, even though it was ridiculously cramped. I suppose I should start introducing you some of the band people instead of just reffering to them as "band people." I was sitting between Lydia and Liz, and Rob and Noah were sitting on either side of them. (Lydia is actually one of my favorite band people. She's the one who was my stand-in mom at band camp when Adam was ignoring me and I freaked out. She took me into the bathroom and calmed me down and gave me a speech about how to deal with "the quiet type." Lydia dated Ivy's brother, who is almost exactly like Adam personality-wise. Feel free to ponder any psychological implications of that.)

Anyway, I ended up having fun. The music was good, and I talked to Lydia and Molly, who showed up late, and I didn't freak out even though the girl was sitting right in front of me. (I love how I refer to her as "the girl" even though I know her name.) I think I was just glad Adam wasn't with her. Not only did Rob announce Eric's birthday when they played, but they had everyone in the audience sing "Happy Birthday," and then Liz came out on stage with a cake with lit candles. He blew them out and gave her a hug and everyone said "aw." It was about quarter past ten when I left, even though the show was only supposed to go until nine thirty. I felt content when I got home, but I still woke up with that wierd, unsettled feeling I tend to get in the morning.

Today has been pretty unusually boring, which I guess is why I'm writing. We went to church this afternoon because they were having a lunch... thing... which made me nervous, and we're going to church again tonight for the Good Friday service, which will make me nervous, but not as much as usual because Good Friday is just a lot of music and Latin. I bought a Weakerthans CD and talked to Tom online and my parents annoyed me.

I appologize for the boring entry. I just felt like writing. I probably shouldn't be on this site so much. I should probably be doing more productive things. Hm. Oh well.
