We are back home again after a very pleasant trip away, sort of looking after grandchildren. Sort of, because luckily they were busy doing things most days - football camp and horse grooming - so we had time to visit some people after making the deliveries to various points, and then picking them up later.
The weather helped - sunny and warm for all but the last day - and we also had some quality time with our other son and family who live a few miles away.
They had just returned from a holiday of a lifetime - four weeks in the western USA doing everything they were looking to do - from Seattle to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon at dawn, Death Valley, etc etc - and finishing with five days in San Francisco. Pity the pound/dollar exchange was poor but they had paid for a lot before the referendum and its consequences.
So now we are home for a week - off to north Tuscany on Sunday for a week - and hoping for good weather there too.
Meanwhile I am enjoying the fact that a prominent MP here, good family man, has been hiring male escorts and using ‘poppers’ for great sexual satisfaction. Well, these are alleged - but pretty clear it happened. Nothing illegal here - but when you have been in the forefront examining moral issues to be caught with your trousers down having a good time in an extra-marital and gay environment can only titillate the tabloids. I think much of the furore comes from the fact he has courted publicity for years - and this come down seems rather appropriate.

More breaking news - men from their late 50s to their 80s are more likely to have a hearty attacks if they have regular sex. No problem there then!!!!

The claim of this news being in the 'public interest' is apparently down to him chairing the Home Affairs Select Committee, because they are reviewing the prostitution laws. I would say that's fair.

Aside from that, we all know that politicians get up to this kind of thing all the time. So it makes me curious to know what systems they have in place for how to deal with such a situation. I mean how are more of these stories not reported to the press more regularly? It's not like he's the only one! So it must be down to this 'public interest' issue, and it seems the newspapers play ball when there's no clear reason to report on a public figure's private life.

Yeah the pound to dollar ratio really sucks lately. I send money home to pay for student loans, and every month I have to send a bit more even though I'm paying the same :/
