The 'Silly Season'..with postcards in blackpropaganda

In the past July and August were known as the ‘silly season’ for newspapers. Politicians went on holiday - as did everyone else - and so the papers relied on odd stories - nothing too serious.
Not this year! Politics continues at full pelt over the summer, and we have the situation in France, and now Turkey - you just look forward to the time when we just settle down - but that is highly unlikely.

At least the BBC Promenade Concerts have started for six weeks - great music every night on Radio 3 and the opening concert last Friday set the tone - and started with the playing of the Marseillaise to honour those killed and injured in Nice. I remember on the day after 9/11 they changed the whole programme to reflect the feelings - conducted by an American, Leoonard Slatkin.

We are off to London tomorrow, and our time there is going to coincide with a heatwave. There is nothing worse than being in the metropolis when the temperature is over C30 degrees - and we have some moving about to do to see family - so hopefully when the trains are not too crowded - and SW. is going to a matinee, hopefully the theatre will be air conditioned.
The main issue will be sleeping - in the Premier Inn where we stay there is no real a/c - and they provide fans which just moves the air around. So it looks like we shall be sleeping with minimum of clothing.
So, expecting the worst - so if it is not as bad that will be a bonus.
We get to see the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition on Wednesday - and maybe the Hockney exhibition which is there at the same time - depends on how tired we get walking around. We are booked into the SE at 10 am when there are fewer people around.

Anyway, since you send people postcards when you are on holiday, here are a couple for you, dear readers

LOVE those post cards!
The world has gone mad. Well, it's always been that way, but social media has brought it into our bedrooms.
