Yup, my birthday started off with one. My friend texted me at 6pm yesterday to ask if I would take her to the ER. Sure, I’m a good friend and don’t mind. So I leave my house, go pick her up, take her there and we wait. And wait some more. They take her back to triage or whatever and she’s running a fever of almost 103. Nurse says she’ll bring her some Tylenol but no empty beds yet so back to waiting room. Wait some more, they take her back to scan her stomach. More waiting. Finally, at least an hour and a half later they give her tylenol. Wait some more. Finally get back to a bed. Dr examines everything. She has a kidney infection. Gonna start her on iv antibiotics. She also has some weird vaginal swelling and itching going on. Dr says it doesn’t look like herpes or anything but she can’t entirely rule it out. Personally I think it’s an allergic reaction to a new body wash but better safe than sorry. So Dr. Says ok gonna give you antivirals just to be safe until test results come back. So gotta wait at least an hour and a half for antibiotics to get into her veins. Apparently it wasn’t dripping fast enough so taking longer now. Finally done. It’s like 1 am. Nurse comes in to do discharge paperwork. Idiot nurse proceeds to tell friend that she presented with classic herpes symptoms and that’s what she has. Keep in mind that this is despite what the dr said and the test results aren’t back yet and it very clearly states in the paperwork that she’s being treated with antivirals just in case and when the results come back, if negative to discontinue taking antivirals. So friend is crying and freaking out. It’s 130 before I get her dropped off and calmed down. Now admittedly her bf/baby daddy is a scumbag and it wouldn’t entirely shock me but why worry someone like that after the dr said it didn’t even look like that. So then it’s 230 before I get home. Thankfully M(who is my ex hubby but we’re still really good friends) went out to my house to feed everyone so I didn’t have to worry about that at 230 in the morning. Of course my alarm went off at 6 and here I am.
A few people posted happy birthday on my fb and my parents have texted me to tell me happy birthday. No one at work even realizes it’s my birthday. And they probably won’t but I guess we’ll see. One person did randomly text me to say happy birthday which is nice but he’s also engaged so off limits. He asked if I had plans this weekend. I told him I didn’t think getting drunk by myself and being alone really counted as plans.
