Thursday aka J's Friday in Day to day life from a woman that turned 60 in Oct 2014 and who lives on a farm and Retired on January 2, 2016. I plan to do more sewing, work outside in the yard and just enjoy my retirement.

I still have to think about Thursday not really being Friday. lol It seems to be difficult for me that on Thursday mornings I still think the next day is Saturday. So wrong!! But a happy wrong, as I then realize I have one more day to do whatever I need to do before Grand time. Silly I know, but I take joy wherever I can find it.

Dad seems to be doing okay since the tragic accident. I took him to talk to the mobile DAV yesterday morning. We had some questions and it was so good that I went. He forgot his SSN. Didn’t rattle me until he kept repeating the same # as his SS but I have the last 4 of his social memorized and that wasn’t it. He was giving his service # from when he was in the military. I had him find his SS card in his wallet so we could move on in the paperwork the person was trying to fill out for Dad an ID card that he can use at the Commissary if he wants to. He thought he could also use it to get into the PX or exchange, but pretty sure he can’t. It is just for the Commissary. I’ve never been to the Commissary and for those who may be unfamiliar it it a grocery store for the military that are retired, active duty, or 100% disabled military. I don’t think he’s going to find those great deals that he thinks he will but one never knows.

We stopped on the way back to grab something to eat and it started raining pretty heavy. I was going to take him to Walmart, but he decided he didn’t need anything bad enough to mess with it in the rain. Sad to say, when I got home, I was totally worthless. I don’t think I did anything the rest of the day. Did make a couple of phone calls, but nothing else. Blah. Hate being lazy and have no energy.

Today is better, energy wise, and I’ve emptied some of my planting containers out and have mixed good potting soil, fertilizer, and vermiculite into a tub with last years so it should be good for this year now. Did a mini burn of leaves in front of the front porch here and that was done for 2 reasons. To burn the leaves and to hopefully discourage weeds or grass next to the porch in that tiny area. I have the stuff to mix for weed killer and will do that after the rains have ceased. It hasn’t rained a lot, but enough to deter the weed killer from being successful.

Think there is a cabbage growing down by the fence where I throw out old veggies that I haven’t used. Who knows, it may be the best thing I haven’t grown this season.

Meeting a friend for supper this afternoon at 4. She was a neighbor when we were younger and lived on the adjacent farm. I just found out she retired this month so sent her a FB message telling her we should try and get together so we agreed on this afternoon. I thought she might come to my house, or I would have met her at her place, but she has a music practice at 7 tonight in this area so this seemed to be good for both of us. J will probably get home before I do, but he knows it and is fine with it. A called me just a few minutes ago to see if O could ride the bus here tonight, but told her I wouldn’t be home. She went to plan b which is good that she has a plan b cause I can’t be depended upon all the time. It just can’t happen.

I’ going to do something today productive but not sure what yet. I’m thinking of doing some straightening in my sewing and craft room. It needs it and will make me feel good. Still haven’t put any of J’s furniture back in his room and won’t until the CPAP machine is okayed. I called the specialist yesterday and they are waiting for medicaid to approve the next step. GEEZE!! I hope next week they get word so his appointment to try out the mask can be scheduled. Once that happens he should be able to get the equipment to breath better at night. Prayers for this to get moving would be appreciated.

I appreciate your response for Michael’s grandson, aka commonsensechristian’s grandson. I believe he will update here soon. More tests to come but the doctors think it is treatable.

I bought me new undies and 2 new flannel nighties on Amazon and I received the undies on Tuesday. Not sure when the nighties will come, but think they are each being shipped separately. All of my nighties are wearing completely out and I’ve fixed, patched, replaced until they look pretty pathetic. I’ll continue wearing them until they completely fall apart, but when the grands noticed how sorry they look, I felt it was time to start replacing a couple. lol When the grands mention it, you know it is bad.

Have a splendid day! Take care and God Bless

I would think if one can use the Commissary they can use the Exchange too. As far as deals... Ya know before there was Super Walmarts and stores like that, the Commissary was the best place. Now many of the items are similar in price with exceptions. When we first moved here I went to the Commissary to replace all my Spices. Paying 1.15 for a Spice I would normally pay 3.65 or more for is so worth it!. Medications used to be cheaper at the Commissary, I don't know how it is now. Most of the time I shop at Walmart because it is in my town.

I sleep in cotton gowns and I finally broke down and bought two new ones... the old ones had more holes than nightgown and were by no means worth repairing!! lol... but dang, they slept so great and were cool. The newer ones are thicker and I get hot... oh well!! I guess I will always be one hot chick! LOL!!!!
