I am so excited that i have surpassed my goal of one indie film per month. This time i had a date, Jamie! Oh, i am so glad he was with me, because this was such a scary movie!!!

  • eerie music
  • authentic costuming (all the cloth was hand woven!)
  • authentic language (film was based in the first half of the 1600’s)

The Witch is a folk tale style film, but lives no where in the vicinity of Disney. A family is cast out of a plantation for the father’s prideful preaching. They create a homestead near the edge of a woods. While the oldest daughter is minding the infant and playing peekaboo, it disappears. The rest of the family’s existence becomes chaos when the oldest daughter is slowly been seen and accused of being a witch.

But, the truth is, there is a real witch. People die, sacrifices are made, and the ending is dark is a black goat’s soul.

I cried at the end of this one, if you can believe it. I thought i would get away from crying.
