I've been really lazy with my diary entries lately. Maybe that's a good thing? Busy with life and all. I do like to keep up on my daughters' lives and how they're growing though. Thank God for backing up, and backing up again. I'll try and cross-post to OD, if and when it returns.

Both girls got excellent report cards. CC got all As and Mei got all 3s (weirdo grading system, but its the best you can get in the first trimester of second grade). They eat up the schoolwork and usually go for more. Mei just hosted her first sleepover. It was for her birthday. The next morning Hero whispered to me, "Are you happy that you saved $75 and didn't take them to a bowling party?" Actually, I was. We cheaped it out, a usual, but the girls were insanely happy with pizza, painting nails and talking about absolutely nothing until 4 a.m.

CC keeps on maturing. Physically, she's not there yet, as many of the fifth graders are hitting puberty fairly early. She's starting but in no rush. She wants to be grown up, but has no outward interest in boys (which is totally fine, I know she has her crushes). We've come to a meeting point where she has to be clean, brush teeth and hair, use deoderent, change socks. It was a fight there for a bit, but she is really kicking some butt now in the hygene department. She also doesn't suffer fools and won't deal with the standard middle school drama. Fingers crossed that it continues.

Hero and I continue to muddle along. We're ok. I'm working out an IRS payment, which sucks, but I'm happy to pay it off. We've cut back a lot, but it's all fodder for a future blog. No Boston ballet for us, but we're seeing the Nutcracker at a local community college this weekend. I keep on selling used books to dealers on line and love to see my paypal account fatten up. I have lots of big and little projects around the house, so I have to pick the ones that don't cost anything. I almost cried with relief when I had enough money to pay for firewood the other day. I got Hero a $50 gift certificate for Bass Pro Shop after keying in mycokerewards.

I'm going to tidy up my office and really work on not falling asleep. Nobody is here and I like it that way.
