Three people that I knew passed away between Christmas and new year’s. Jeff’s uncle passed the 24th, a friend’s mother passed the 28th and a friend from long ago had a heart attack that same day, was put on life support and I found out yesterday that she was brain dead----she was in her late 50s. Jeff’s uncle and the friend’s mom were 80 and 90 and both suffered from Alzheimer’s. Tomorrow I will be attending the friend’s funeral, Jeff’s uncle is the following Saturday—actually a memorial service, and I don’t know about the friend’s.

Fell asleep before the new year came but was awakened about 2 a.m. to the sound of a helicopter flying overhead several times. This morning found out that they were looking for a 5 yr old autistic boy who walked out of his house around 11 last night during a family party. So far, they have not found him, got an automated call from th city this afternoon asking people to check any out buildings that they have for him and I just saw on the local news that police dogs have picked up his scent. Unfortunately, it was near the river but there are a lot of old buildings in that area, hopefully they will find him safe.

Haven’t done much today, have been watching the show “Portlandia” most of the day but I did pull out some totes and have been sorting thru clothes and organizing them better and finding some to donate.

Jeff was off this past week and he painted our kitchen–it looks good, need to find new window treatments, finally found something On-line and ordered them. Going for a French country look.

Feel the need to do a mini get away Martin Luther King weekend, choices are to visit his mom in NC—Jeff doesn’t want to but if we don’t go, probably will not get to see her til late summer. Another choice is to go back to cape may, but since we are taking the Friday and coming back that Tuesday, I thought maybe a trip to Savannah might work. Savannah would be about twice as much as Cape May and while I love going there—in fact I almost booked yesterday—I just got a whim to go somewhere different. We will probably end up just staying home because Jeff isn’t giving me a whole lot of feedback.

Time to check on my dinner and here is to a better year for all of us!

I'm sorry to hear that you've had so many losses in a row and over the holidays, no less. That somehow always makes it sadder.
Hope they find that little boy safe. I love the French country look!
