right so as i mentioned my mom & I went to Liberty. twice. I think once for tea and once to get a fabric piece for my sister. well i got it. my mom didn’t. she doesn’t like shopping or inpractical things. So I picked out an alice one and asked the lady for a sample but she said they didn’t have it in a smaller size cause of the collection it was from. so I went round the room again and saw a few paisley ones but at the time I didn’t know if my sister likes paisley or not. i do. also paisley reminds me of hippies and that indirectly reminds me of drugs, so. i explained this to her when we were at lunch at brio recently that lovely italian place. anyway. I got a nice fabric piece that has some purple in it. i think it’s flowers or something.
Yeah so they had window displays at Liberty little mice doing things. like celebrating new yr’s and putting on the ballet. i liked it. at Fortnum [of fotrnum & mason another huge dept. store] they also have window displays but i don’t like those as much. they remind me of.......the guy who’s the illustrator for ‘where the wild things are’ his art. and yet i love that book. And at Selfridge’s they had astrological window displays and that was v. cool. oh and they also had a sign for the store and........um. one of the original doors.
So Regent St. was all decked out in holiday decorations that’s a thing there. it;s like the whole city is into that. they had......these ornament things in the sky. i think the were on wires that made um curves across the buildings. regent st. is as i might’ve mentioned like times sq. it even has a big tv and everthing. And people come from all different directions when walking. Some even cross in front of you and then go right or left on their way to somewhere. except for in amsterdam and in london every asian person i’ve met has been nice. oh there were asian people there. The lady we rented our flat from was v. nice. as said we’ve stayed there before but she looked different this time. it’d also been 4 yrs. so. her daughter’s 3 and didn’t want to do anything she was there our first day.
Actually on our first day we flew in after an 8 - 10 hr. flight. that took forever overseas flights do. And we got to the front door of the building and my mom rang the doorbell but the lady didn’t answer. So we went to brunswick the shopping plaza that’s right across the way from our flat and went to Waitrose the grocery store where we got.well groceries. Then we went back to the building went upstairs met her and her daughter checked in and they left. maybe to go to lunch buut as the daughter was misbehaving and didn’t want to do anything I don’t know if they went or not. i’m so glad i don’t have kids.
So at some point after that we went to the subway where we got half price tickets for ‘cats’. and we went and saw ‘cats’. I was so tired that day. and so the setting in the first scene is i’m guessing a hotel and there’s a chandelier but I was so tired I thought it was a ufo and i’m like well that’s bizarre. then we. well at some point during our stay we went to pret le manger or w/e it’s called. it was by regent st. well the one we went to was. it’s a cafe. i got a sandwich and vanilla chai. it was a small crowded place. we might’ve done that out first day.
So our second day which was Sun. we went to church. i’ve not been to church service a lot and I don’t think it’s for me. We went to the service at Westminster Abbey which is in the burrough of westminster. well i’m mentioning this redundant fact cause i didn’t know that before going. london has 13 burroughs. it’s free on Sun. mornings. it was nice a bit boring near the end. We took a cab there. the cab lady was v. nice. She said she had a lovely time driving us or something. um. Oh so that day we went to ‘the lion king’. which as i said we didn’t like. i didn’t relate to most of it. Before the church service started we talked to a lady whose son is in the choir. we didn’t see the choir perform. she was nice quiet. well everyone’s quiet there.
It gets dark by 4 p.m. there in winter and light well it starts getting light at 7 a.m. the sun when it gets sunny which isn’t often gets up between 7:30 and 8. i was up either at 6 or by 6:30 which is really weird. well i went to sleep at like 8 or 9 which is also weird.
