NJM15: Entry 18 in These Foolish Things

People, I’m still in a fog. Really, this is normal jet lag and it does take about two weeks to fully recover. But even though I’m still in slow motion, I’m feeling pretty good. The sun is shining outside and that makes me very happy.

It was either rainy or completely polluted while I was in China. In fact, the smog was SO bad while I was there that there was no visibility in some places and they actually shut down highways! I never take deep breaths when I’m there, so to see sunshine and to breathe the air here in the US is something I don’t take for granted anymore.

My sweet SHIP sent me a note that he’s back in the Netherlands, so that’s good. He’s going to see his “finest accomplishments” (his kids) and I wonder what he does in his daily life when he’s not flying. I am actually kind of digging this in a pen pal kind of way now. I will write to him as long as he writes to me…unless it gets too weird. Right now, it’s very nice.

Later…

I’m home now and about to go for my snooze. Jet lag is not so laggy tonight, but still I will drink my special drink and drift off soon.

I finally checked my mail and found another letter from the IRS that kind of filled me up with dread again. If you recall (or I may not have written about this), the IRS had sent me an $8000 bill referencing some earnings that I hadn’t reported. And I was mad as hell because it was actually a LOSS from my shit financial advisor.

So I made him fill out all of the necessary paperwork to show that I had a $5K loss instead of the reported $20K gain, and lo and behold, the IRS sent me a letter with a refund proposal of $590, and that makes me very, very relieved.

It almost feels like I just won an award of some sort. But really, it was mine all along and I had to go through unnecessary stress and gyrations . Thanks, IRS.

Not only that, I also believe that my taxes were done wrong in 2014, so I’m going to have to send in an amendment.

Fun.

Went to the dentist today and they took my blood pressure. It’s high. Very high. And it was high the last time it was taken right before my trip to China. I’ve always had LOW blood pressure, so I’m a little concerned about that.

Stupid stress.

I just made some popcorn. Maybe I’ll Netflix and chill with myself.

Is it wrong that over the jet lag recovery weekend I googled “sexiest movies on Netflix” ?I decided on a movie called Sex and Lucia and I was NOT disappointed.

Maybe I’ll go cross another sexy movie off my list…

Besos!
