Oh. Muh. I am hungover as hell. After an extremely long day on 3 hours of sleep, I was scheduled to attend a big dinner with my vendor and another factory owner. Good news is that Best Bud and three other people from my company were attending as well. It was our hello and goodbye dinner as we are all going our separate ways after this morning. Best Bud and the head of the China office are off to India and Bangladesh and I’ll be going to the countryside a few hours outside of Shanghai today. I’ll end up in a city called Wuxi, which is not far from Shanghai (around a 2 hour drive)…
Anyway, we drank a LOT, had many toasts and I ended up doing shots of Moutai, which is the nastiest, harshest, highest octane liquor stuff you can drink. There’s a reason why we don’t drink this stuff in the US. It is probably the most disgusting thing you can ever drink. The smell alone with practically knock you out and the aftertaste is like dirty feet. So WHY do I drink this stuff? It’s a big tradition and it’s kind of offensive if you don’t partake in the celebrations. They push it and push it, so you kind of end up pressured into it. The only good thing is that it’s a clear liquid, so you can sometimes pour some water in your glass and fake it if nobody’s looking.
Anyway. I drank a lot last night and woke up in the hard, hard bed with my eye mask on because I couldn’t figure out how to turn out the LIGHTS! Ugh.
OK, gotta roll. My guy is picking me up in 10 minutes for the drive to the countryside. I still need to check out of this crazy place.
It’s going to be a long, long day.
