So This is Motherhood Sunday, November 30, 2008
I am sick... so very sick. My nose hurts from blowing it and my head feels like it's going to explode.
Lillian decided now would be a great time to get her colic back. The last four nights she has been screaming. It just breaks my heart to hear her scream. It's even worse when she lifts her legs, arches her back, and screams. (and I do mean scream!) Then she looks straight into my eyes as to ask for help. There is nothing I can do for her. When I give her the gripe water it seems to calm her down, most times. However, not always. I feel so helpless. On top of that I can't think straight because of this damn cold. I would try to get rid of it, but it's almost impossible to get rid of it when your baby has colic and there is no time to sleep.
I did have my mother help the last couple of days, but now I am on my own again. I am trying to keep my cool and trying to stay strong, but this is so hard. I feel like everything is pulling at me in a different direction. Of course Lily comes first, but there needs to be a time for me to sleep.
My poor baby girl cried so hard she had projectile (spelling?) milk come out of her. Of course I didn't have the spit up clothe in place. Nice.
On top of all this we are getting 3 to 8 inches of snow by tomorrow and I don't even own a shovel so I have to go buy one. I have no idea how it's going to fit in my car. Ugh.

Hi, I saw you on random and read back a few entries about your baby's colic. have you tried running the vacuum cleaner? It sounds strange, but for some reason it sooths some babies. It worked for a little guy I know and gave him releif until his meds took over. Best wishes. [Hiddenin_Heatherwood] [p] 11/30/2008 11:06:55 PM

poor both of you! projectile vomiting is never good. is she on breast milk or formula? she may need to try something else to drink. is the doc helping at all with this?
you have to get better. if you arent well she will pick up on it and she will be crabby. [muted exposure]

Being sick is bad enough, but being sick with a colicky little girl has got to be extra tough...Poor baby and poor Momma! :( [Mommy2Katie] 11/30/2008 11:28:38 PM
hugs
There will be good days and bad days Shannon. Sounds like you're getting some bad days out of the way so you'll be ready for some good ones ;-)

Has the doctor said it was colic? Poor baby. I hope she gets better. You also! It's no fun taking care of a baby when you are feeling sick yourself. Feel better!! [prettylittlekitty] 12/1/2008 9:40:11 PM
have you tried different positions to see if she is getting too much air when she feeds? i used a breast shield with my first because he projectile vomited from too much air. he just couldnt get a good position on me plus i had slightly inverted nipples which was a pain. i hope that it passes quickly with her. i cant imagine doing it alone. re: thank you. i hope you feel better soon, too.
i was about to ask why you would be shoveling instead of maintenance but then i remembered you're not in the apartment anymore. did you get the shovel in your car? [ephemeral] [p]
