Fairly miserable in Well now

One handed typing so there’ll be a lot of short choppy sentences. Oh well.

The major damage is the broken arm. Both bones in the forearm. Luckily they’re not displaced so I’ll just need casting, not setting. Unluckily, it’s my right arm and I’m right handed, so the practicalities will be difficult for a while. Work is going to be an interesting set of challenges.

Beyond the broken arm is a lot bruising, soft tissue damage. The weight of my broken arm, even In the sling, makes my battered shoulder absolutely miserable. My left hand and knee are both banged up, so I’m hobbling rather pathetically and having huge trouble with simple tasks like opening a plastic bottle of pop and getting clothing on and off as necessary.

I’m avoiding mirrors because my nose, thankfully not broken, is a tad larger and rosier than usual.

But there is pharmacopoeia, some fairly serious pain pills. Every fourth hour I take one big white pill, have something small to eat and can count on sleeping hours two, three, and four. The ebbing of the pain pill in the fourth hour ensures that I will awaken in time to take the next scheduled pill and start the cycle again.

The arm is in a temporary splint now. Had to do that in order to let the swelling subside before casting. Because the accident happened on a Thursday evening Monday afternoon is the earliest the arm can be cast. I’m feeling a bit rude about doing it, but I’m planning to take Monday off. Really. I could probably work by then but I’d have to get off early for the casting appointment anyway, and I really am broken, and …

I have such a guily conscience that I even have to rationalize taking off when I really should take off. How very me.

Anyway, I’ll get through this weekend, though unhappily. Obviously, I must be doing better if I can hunt and peck whine.
