Tear Down-Rebuild-Tear Down-Rebuild in New Beginnings

I’m finally over my illness. The Saturday following my previous entry at which point I hoped to have recovered turned out to be the lowlight of the whole ordeal. Saturday was a continuation of Friday’s sore throat and fever combined with headache, body-aches, congestion, and nausea. At one point, I had to crawl toward the bathroom to vomit.
I couldn’t even sleep in my bed. Saturday night and Sunday night, I had to sleep in my recliner so the congestion wouldn’t pool in my throat and wake me up in a coughing fit. I even had to work from home on Monday. I notified my manager that I needed a “drainage” day.
As I said, I’m mostly recovered now. I even made it to Jujitsu on Thursday and the gym on Friday for a light workout. I was hoping I could pick up where I left off. The Sunday before my illness hit, I was able to do one of the hardest cardio workouts I’ve ever done. Seriously, my pace was one of the fastest if not the fastest I’ve ever done. Yeah, that stamina is gone. Actually, the previous four months of stamina I built up is gone. It’s really quite infuriating. I couldn’t even finish my workout today because my muscles were so sore from Friday. Well, it’s not the first time I’ve had to rebuild. I’ve had to come back from quadricep hematomas and sprained ankles along with other illnesses before. Heck, every time I donate blood I have to reset my workout to what it was just a few months before, so I know I can rebuild. I just hate how fleeting good health can be sometimes. I push myself to the point of exhaustion working out several times a week, almost every week a year, then someone doesn’t cover his mouth when he sneezes, and everything I built up is gone.
Speaking of poor health, when I was working out Friday, there were a couple of women in the aerobics room doing their own workout. One was playing music from her Ipod (I presume) for their workout. Man alive, how can some people have such horrid tastes in music. They were listening to what I’ll call “angry rap,” and I distinctly remember one of the lyrics as “We don’t need know reason/for them to suck our c**ks.” I wanted to say to them,
“Really? Reeaaaaally? That’s what you want to listen to? Of all the musical options you could use to inspire yourself while you workout from ‘A Warrior’s Call’ by Volbeat to ‘Face the Pain’ by STEMM to any of the Rocky songs to anything by AC/DC, and you want to listen to some loser allege that women like to give him oral sex.”
They were both women, too. You’d think they’d be less likely to indulge in smut like that, but what do I know? The also had the volume cranked to 11. Instead of saying anything like that, when they turned off the music to leave I couldn’t help but mumble, “Turn that s**t off.” I doubt it was my place to confront them, but still hope they heard me. Funny enough, I doubt I’ll encounter either of them again. A weird yet pleasant phenomena about gym culture is that the most annoying patrons seldom stick around.
