Surgery is Scheduled Monday, April 09, 2007

My surgery is scheduled for April 17th. That is this coming Tuesday. At first I was ok about the whole thing. Then someone started telling me about all the pain I am going to be in. I don't do pain very well. She told me that someone should really be there the first night with me. I guess I moved out of my apartment with Michael three weeks too early!

It's going to be hard, but I'll make it. Two things that I don't do well at: Pain and boredom. This is going to be a long recovery. I am aiming for 5 days. That's the minimum time on my pamphlet for recovery. I am such a wimpy whiner though! Just look at me! I am whining already and it's still a week away!

Anyway, Easter was nice. I went to an Affirmation on Saturday. I think that's what it's called. My friend Stacey was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith and she asked me to go. I went. It was almost 3 hours long. All I can say is that's a lot of Jesus! The cerimony itself was beautiful. I cried when she got baptized. I also cried when she got her marraige blessed. It was all so beautiful and emotional. Yeah, I cry about everything that is somewhat emotional. I am just sensitive that way.

OK, I am out of here. I am tired and cranky.

Found you at random...are you having your gallbladder removed laproscopically (or however it's spelled)? If so, I had that done about five years ago. If you're able to have it done laproscopically, it doesn't hurt. :)

But if you have to have it done the other way...I hate to say this but, I hear that can be a long recovery.

Either way, good luck! [BlueEyes418] [p] 4/9/2007 9:53:13 PM
You really should try to have someone stay with you that first night at least. Even if the anesthetic doesn't make you feel nauseous (it didn't bother me) it will leave you extremely weak and pretty much stoned out of your mind.

I've never had gall bladder surgery but when I had my kidney stone surgery it took about a week to heal up.

the pain is mainly from the bloating. they have to put air in you when they do the surgery and it will slowly absorb. if they do it like they did my two sisters they made 3 cuts and those healed nicely but the meds they give you to get by will knock you out and you will be loopy. i believe they had lortabs. you wont want to get up and the first day you will need someone to bring you your drinks and stuff unless you have a fridge by your bed. if you are a quick healer you should be ok. and i know you have a week but i just want to say good luck! if i was near you i would come take care of you. [muted exposure] 4/9/2007 11:16:10 PM
tell the nurses if you are in pain! They are obligated to help you and not to judge anyone's pain. Yours is what you report it as.

Best of luck to ya :) [questionoftime] 4/10/2007 1:02:26 AM
DON'T LET THEM SCARE YOU LOL it's a GALLBLADDER, I promise you, as a woman, you will be up and walkin around like normal. I had it when I was younger and you know women are much much better than men with pain. and he's talking kidney stone surgery, I've had both (both stones, I mean) and kidney stones hurt way way worse. like childbirth worse. you will do AWESOMELY! heh that's not even a word.

if a few days of discomfort means that you could finally get rid of your ibs that sounds like it's worth it to me...

as for the boredom: a few good book and a portable dvd play can solve that. [HeWhoThinksTooMuch] 4/10/2007 8:01:38 AM
YOu have to delete the first day after surgery and then your strength will begin to return. I put my head on a shelf and tried to sleep away the time until I could not feel so much pain. [Mistie] 4/10/2007 8:53:53 PM
