I dreamed once that I was your lady
But you never held doors for me
Or listened to me
Or valued my opinion

I dreamed once that I was your partner
You were my king but I was a peasant
You disrespected me
You looked through me

I dreamed once that I was your wife
You ignored me
And disdained me
Insulted me

I dreamed once that I believed in love
And it meant something
Except none of it was a dream
It's just been so long ago that it seems like one
