OP∆ #034: GO TIME!· Target P3 / C3 / R1 in These Foolish Things

And now it’s GO TIME over here. It’s Wednesday. I’m working all day. But I also have to make sure I’m essentially all packed today. Tomorrow will be sweeping up all of the stragglers, laundry, pack my go bag and my “open me first” box, and then wait for the movers to arrive first thing on Friday morning!

Right now, I’m sitting through a process meeting for a new tool that the company is implementing. It just seems like it’s par for the course for this company. There are maybe hundreds of us on this call and there are thousands of questions rolling in.

The task redundancies at this company are shocking. And I’ve worked for this company before!

It seems to have gotten exponentially more complicated. I don’t feel like explaining, and I’m not complaining - just observing. It’s going to be interesting. Nothing that I have to do is hard per se…it’s just time consuming and everyone is posturing, so everyone wants everything yesterday and there are not enough little worker bees to do alllllll of these miniscule tasks that all link to each other.

sigh

Four hours later…

Had a couple of meetings, fixed some things that I’d worked on earlier, took another class, and now I MUST get a move on with the packing situation.

The next day…

Aaaaannnd now it’s Thursday the 23rd! Yes, we are down to the wire! I didn’t get as much done yesterday as I wanted, and now I have to not only work today, but get allllllll the rest of the packing done and do the initial sweep/clean!!

I do have cleaners coming in after I move on Friday to do the deep clean. Thank goodness my precious maintenance man’s (Jose) wife has a cleaning business! They came in last week and quoted me $250 to do the whole place. Jose tells me that after his wife and her partner are done cleaning, I’ll get all of my deposit money back!

But not until I do the work to get the big shit outta here.

I had a feeling this would happen. I just realized also that I need to pack this big monitor up (the one I’m looking at to type this entry) and only use my small screen from here on out.

Good news is, the only meeting I have on my calendar today is at 7pm with my team in Asia - that’s 8am their time. Oh wait…I just looked. It’s been postponed to next week…when I’m back in [former city, soon to be current city - what do I call this city??]

Some things I don’t like about this new gig is that random meetings pop up at 7pm sometimes. The good news is that my boss is really cool about working hours. He doesn’t care as long as the job gets done and that I’m not killing myself to do it. So I’ll accept a few 7pm meetings here and there. I’ll just plan to leave the office at least an hour (maybe an hour and a half) earlier so that I have time to drive through the traffic, pick up Martini, get home, grab a bite and then log back on.

Another interesting thing I see is that my boss is being squeezed as well. In this organization there are only two people who have his role and when I was here before, there were SIX of him. So…did he and the other person get three jobs to do? WTF?

Just rambling here.

I better go so I can get a move on. See what I did there? 😊

Next time I write, I will be in Cornerlight Studio! Of course, it’ll be in a state of disarray, but Martini and I will be there. I’ve already gotten my new internet box to hook up on Friday evening.
