I meant to make this private and come back and add some text. I just came back and saw it was public. Oh well.

I’m not a huge fan of Stephen King. I’ve read a few of his books and I realize he’s VERY popular but for some reason.....

And semiiiii-interestingly enough, I like HIM better than his books. He’s quite charming in these two videos. The second has his son Owen with whom he wrote the book, Sleeping, about when all the women in the world fall asleep and don’t wake up. Yeah.

Still the father and son are charming and there might be some child rearing advice too - also advice on how children might deal with their parents.

Many years ago I had a tattered paperback of King stories. I read the introduction telling about the author’s struggles as a young teacher with a young family living in the trailer in Maine - winders were cold. It went into detail and it made me like him then.

Funniest thing happened. Several years later he was interviewed in Playboy and much of the detail in that interview had already been in book’s introduction. I found the book and compared them and they were very much alike.

I’ve never figured out what happened or how it happened but I was a little of bit suspicious of Playboy after that.

Not long ago I ran across a King short story, might have been in New Yorker, I’m not sure, but it really struck me. I think I’ve told you guys about it before, but here goes again. A married couple are arguing in the car on the way to an event, might have been a wedding. The woman wants to stop at a convenience store for something and the man stays in the car. It takes quite a while, and then - an ambulance with lights and siren pulls into the parking lot and EMTs go into the store. The man waits longer for his wife to come out. Finally he goes in and sees her stretched out on the floor. She’s dead. And guess what? He’s happy.

I always think of the Casey’s convenience store on the east side of Decorah. I’ve been there hundreds of times. I’m sure that’s where it happened.
