It makes me feel good when I make Jacob laugh out loud at a joke I make. I’m not sure why, but I just love it, he has a good laugh!
Life’s been busy lately, as it is for many people! We left for Jacob’s parents’ house on the 23rd, and stayed until Christmas Eve night. We always go to their big dinner and exchange gifts afterwards. Poor Cannon was very overwhelmed with all of the people there. He was glued to his aunt (his favorite aunt, Jacob’s sister) for most of it. He would go into one of the bedrooms and play with toys too. He is shy and, like me, feels overwhelmed with lots of people around.
The kids got waaaay too much stuff. I have been sifting through old toys to find things to donate. Lorelei got a ton of baby toys that she probably won’t play with. I feel bad for the environment with all of these plastic toys kids probably don’t even play with.
Jacob’s parents got me a sewing machine (eeeep! I’d wanted one forever!), Cooking Mama 5, a t-shirt I’d been wanting for awhile (it’s a blue shirt that says ‘this is why I’m hot’ with a fire flower from the Mario games), comfy slippers (I’ve been in dire need for awhile now), two aprons [I asked for one this year] (with cupcakes printed on them!), and a gift certificate to Modcloth. I definitely did not need all of this stuff, but I’m grateful.
Jacob also gave me the gift he got me, a beautiful necklace that has the kids’ birth stones on it. I don’t normally wear jewelry (except for my ring, of course) and I’d never buy it for myself, so it was a nice gift! I love how he gave me an “adult” gift. :P
Cannon got a ton of new trains for his collection. He is obsessed with his trains! If a kid goes near them, he freaks out. Although he did let his cousin Gabriel play with some of his trains, and I thought that was cool. He got an opportunity to practice sharing. :)
On Christmas Day, my sister, her boyfriend, her son, my mom, and youngest sister came over, had food, and exchanged gifts. My mom got me some super comfortable Chiefs pajama pants and a blanket; you can’t go wrong with comfy gifts. She got Lorelei a ton of super cute new clothes, which the girl desperately needed (she’s almost in size 12 months already).
I still need to set up one of Cannon’s gifts that I didn’t get to yesterday (an easel), since our livingroom was too full (we got him two tents and a rug that you play with little cars on). He actually wasn’t really interested in opening gifts, I had to have Gabriel open the rest of his gifts for him. Maybe next year he’ll be more interested!
I tried not getting the kids too much stuff because they don’t want for much, but it’s hard not to… I always get excited getting my kids things, but I don’t really want them to feel like they always have to have things, so I’ve had to really stop myself from buying too much random stuff for them.
My sister, her boyfriend, and her son stayed the night last night and we made the mistake of going to IHOP at 8pm on Christmas Day… never again, you guys. Never again. We had to get up and leave because we were there for an HOUR and never got our food… the kids couldn’t handle it anymore, so we fed them at home. Poor guys. Dragged out for nothin’.
And now I’m all disappointed because I reallyyyy wanted pancakes and we don’t have the stuff to make ‘em.
We really need to take a trip to the grocery store.
I hope everyone had a nice holiday, we sure did here!
