i want to walk away from everything in Sometimes I feel dead inside

so this whole metalgate garbage really has me disappointed in both sides. i understand points that both make but don’t totally agree with either. its unfortunate that really cool people are not able to work this out. i don’t see any winners here. the fans lose no matter what. already caused a favorite band to break up. caused a journalist friend go militant. this is a scene that supports varg vikernes the man killed someone, he’s very much an anti semite. but because he makes some very good music it gets over looked. this is also a scene that has always existed with fringe extreme elements. i see it as censorship because it isn’t nice to the liberal media or politically correct and insisting that it become that is wrong. art should be uncensored even if you disagree with it. at the same time the elitism is very unbecoming. even the more hateful stuff is problematic to the whole scene. at the same time its art, so i find myself in a situation with mounting tensions and friends on both sides behaving like idiots. people are acting like this is a war, and having an opinion that does not completely agree with one side is a betrayal. i see points on both sides, i understand people can’t be idiots about sex, race, whatever, and i understand that the pc whining about content or opinions will also stifle things as well. i’m frustrated with it to the point that i’m considering walking away altogether. its tough to find out there are large fundamental differences in opinion but there feels like there is an agenda in trying to destroy something i love by using the worst elements of it against itself. my safe haven is going to be destroyed to make people who are not in it or who represent a small minority happy. its not even about money, i could understand that. but its not going to bring in any new crowds. its not going to bring in any more money. and at the same time, there is a hateful minority that seems to be willing to go to war for this. and they fight using the basest means they have. i love this music, i love this scene, but i hate this. i am truly considering walking away.
